Clearing under Leon County's oak canopy
Inside the city and the older neighborhoods, most jobs are selective understory clearing on a wooded lot: taking out privet, smilax, and volunteer sweetgum while protecting the live oaks people bought the property for. Careful forestry mulching is the tool for that, because it works around trunks instead of pushing everything into a pile.
We mark what stays before a machine moves. Canopy trees, specimen hardwoods, and anything close to a septic field or irrigation line get flagged, and we agree on how open you want the understory left.
Access is what decides the plan in town
Before we quote an in-town lot, we look at gate widths, side yards, septic fields, irrigation heads, and where a trailer can park without blocking a street. If a machine can't get in cleanly, we say so up front rather than showing up and improvising.
When the only opening is a narrow gate, we bring a smaller carrier or switch to brush cutting on the sections a full-size machine can't reach. Fence lines and easements that have disappeared into vine get handled the same way.

Soil, slope, and scheduling on the north side
The clay-heavy soils on the north side hold water differently than the sand south of town, so we schedule around wet weeks and keep tracked equipment on the soft spots. On rolling ground we work across the slope to avoid scarring and leave mulch behind as erosion cover.
Outside the loop, the work changes character entirely: acreage, driveways, and pasture that has grown up over a few seasons, where the limiting factor is ground condition rather than gate width.

We take jobs throughout Leon County, including the Bradfordville and Killearn area, Woodville, Fort Braden, Miccosukee, Lake Jackson, Chaires, and the acreage along Old Bainbridge, Centerville, and Tram roads. Tallahassee is roughly a 30 to 40 minute run up Highway 319 from our shop, so it's an everyday trip, not a special dispatch, and we can often visit a property on the way to or from another Leon County job.

Can you work under Tallahassee's oak canopy without hurting the trees?
That's most of what we do inside Leon County. A mulcher clears the understory, vines, privet, sweetgum whips, and briars, while leaving the mature oaks and hickories standing. We agree on which trees stay before we start.
Do you work on smaller in-town lots or only acreage?
Both. Plenty of Tallahassee jobs are a quarter to two acres behind a house. If access is tight we bring a smaller machine, and if a gate or fence line is the only way in we'll check the opening width before scheduling.
How soon can you get out after a storm?
Storm weeks are first come, first served, with blocked driveways and trees on structures moved to the front. Being based south of town in Wakulla means we're usually driving into Tallahassee, not waiting behind a queue of out-of-town work.
